Literary Analysis

3. Make Judgements:
I think it's both right and wrong.
For the right thing is that Terry and his dad is one family and they both have to know each other good especially dad and son. when Terry asks his dad about Vietnam, he learns things which make him wiser and more understanding about his family and the world.
For the wrong things is that; his dad have bad memories about Vietnam because it a war. Asking about those time might remind him of moments that his dad been through; all the death that he'd seen and and sorrows during the war.

Picasso Ossacip

"Hey wake up son" said my mom "today is your first day in grade six doesn’t want to be late. I got all books, your lunch and," "mom! I'm 12 now I can take care on my own" I cut my mother's talking "Picasso Ossacip, so can you go to school by walking from Binh Duong to Ho Chi Minh City by your own, especially when you are black skin?" my mother asked. I said nothing. In school "Hey guys how about lets go out and play?" asked a boy "Yes! Let's go!" the all boys said in class. "Do you know about Kathy and Dane, they like each other" whispering and giggling girls in an area in the class. And I’m just sitting in my seat all alone and listening to my music from my mp3, the songs called 5 days, perfect, letting go, it’s my life and Europa. In the break I tried to be friends with a red hair girl, "Hey do you know why 300 Spartans lose? Because they forgot to tie their shoe laces!" I said, "Get it? Because they don't have shoes." the girl said: "you such a creep, they lose because of you are a jerk, loser." Then she flicked her hair and walked away. She is so rude don’t you think and the joke was funny. In PE class, my gym teacher shouts at me: "hey Picasso, go and shoot the ball into the goal!" Instead of picking up the ball and shoot, I took the ball and run around the basketball court "Traveling! Traveling! Traveling! Traveling!" shouting my teacher.

It’s been nearly a year of tourture in school now is already 2nd of July. I can’t wait until summer come and get the hell out of this International Europe School. In my first period, history, you can call it social study. In class we were about to start a project then the principal came and call my teacher out. Later he came in with a girl have brown hair with slightly a bit of blond. She let her hair down till her chest. She wears a black coat with purple, pink shirt inside; she wears blue jeans and red shoes. At the first look, I felt something funny. I glanced at the boys and I saw they all staring at her with open mouth. Then I know for sure, I had fall in love with her. But then again, if the boys like her, I have no chance to over come her heart. My teacher interrupted the boys from staring at her: “this girl from Europe, her name is Lina Little.” This is the first time that the boys didn’t make fun of a new student. “Lina, you can sit next to Picasso over there or sit with the girls.” “Why Picasso but not us?” the leader of the boys gang, Tyson asked. “Because your grades are always D and F, and Picasso’s never get lower than 95%” Lina looked at the girls, they are giving signs to let Lina sit with them. Then Lina decided: “Mr. Dane,” “Just call me Mr. D Lina.” Mr. D said. “Ok, Mr. D, I’ll sit next to Picasso” the whole class was amazed. With a gentle smile she walked toward me and sat next to me. “Hi” she said “Hi” I replied, I didn’t know what to say, this is the first time that I have been close to a girl that like, not counting my mother, grandma, you get the point. “Picasso, will you help her to study all what we’ve been learning in the year?” with no comments I said: “sir, yes sir” then I though what I’ve done is ridiculous. Everyone laughed but not Lina.

Lina: “So Picasso, you are the smartest guy in the class huh?” “Well high grade doesn’t mean smart, you know Thomas Edison said” before I could finish the sentence, she said same time with me: “genius is just 1% is smart and 99% is hardworking.” Her face went a bit red and I feel a little bit hot. “Less chatting, more working” Mr. D said. “Ok so what are you doing now?” asked Lina and I explained to her everything. “You know Picasso, I can draw the picture for the projects and you go and find information.” Lina said. “Oh yes its ok, I’m very bad at drawing but finding information, I really like it.” I replied and she smiled, “hey Lina, you have cyan eyes?” I asked and I feel pressure than ever I had when presenting a presentation in front of the class. “Yes and you have blue eyes Picasso. I didn’t notice that.” Then we started our presentation right away with nervous of asking any questions.

The days have left for the summer vacation was short but I wanted it to be longer so I can spend more time with Lina. Though the weeks, she taught me so much things; shooting a basketball into the basket with one arm only, playing table tennis, etc. the most thing that I like about what she had teach me is how to fit in with students in the school. I think I hadn’t showed her much, just everything I studied from the begging of the year, and she past and normal final test.

At home, “Picasso, we are moving to Europe next year” said my mother “what but I just settled here!” “I know it is hard but trust me, it will be hard for you now but easy for you in the future.” Said my mother. I under stood what she meant but it will be the goodbye to Lina because she just moved here about 3 weeks ago. I went up to my room and break my Mr. Gimme Money and took the money and brought a card with a little pink heart on it. Hours of reading through books and I finished a poem for her.

Next day, after school I called Lina at the last period of the day, and I gave her the card. And a miracle happed, she gave me a love letter too and in there she said also she is moving to Europe again. After a chat, I notice; we will be in the same country, same city, study same school and the best thing ever, she is my neighbor now.
